Ms. Robie Banks was born on August 16, 1916 to the parentage of the late Allean Mason and Gus Wilson. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Charles and Polly Ann Hicks in the Jordan Stream area of Toombs County. Ms. Banks was a member of Jordan Stream Missionary Baptist Church and served as church mother as long as her health allowed.

Ms. Robie was joined in holy matrimony to Elbert Banks and remained a loving wife till his passing in 1997.

Ms. Robie was a spunky firecracker that loved fishing. And a good day at the pond always meant some hot fried fish and an ice-cold Coca-Cola later. Ms. Robie was a very simple lady and believed that it was that simplicity that granted her longevity on this side of heaven. She transitioned on April 27, 2024

Preceded in death by siblings, Ida Mason, Roy Lee Mason, Amie Moffett, Tommy Lee Mason, Polly Degrate, Lillian Mason; like siblings, Georgia Mae Dixon, Williams Hicks, Alberta Hicks, James A. Hicks, Lillie B. Jones and Daisy Mae Jones.

Ms. Banks is survived by her devoted caretaker foster daughter, Cathy McLendon; first cousins, Henry Lewis Jones, Louise Washington, Beatrice Bogle, Doris Jackson, Warnell Hicks and Julia Dale Barnes; caretaker, Annette Raiford Johnson; and host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Public Viewing will be Friday, May 3, 2024 from 2-6 p.m. at the Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home, 211 W. Liberty Ave., Lyons GA.

A Celebration of Life will be held, May 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the New Vision Missionary Baptist Church, 301 Smith St., Vidalia GA, Burial will follow in the Jordan Stream Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
