Doyle Nesmith

Mr. Doyle D. NeeSmith, age 72, of Lyons, died Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital  in Vidalia, after a sudden illness.  He was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons most of his life.  He was a 1970 graduate of Lyons High School and served three years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.  He was an electrical engineer, working for several companies in the area.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons, the National Rifle Association, and National Hotrod Association.  Doyle enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, watching NASCAR, his Chow dogs, and being at home with his family.  He drag raced in Douglas, Savannah, and Twiggs County and was known as “Sneaky Snake”.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Durward NeeSmith, Sr. and Allie Jack Riner NeeSmith.

His family includes his wife of twenty-eight years, Sue NeeSmith of Lyons; three children, “Trey” NeeSmith and wife Monica of Swainsboro, “Butch” Braner and wife Jamie of Cobbtown, and Stacy Galloway of McCormick, South Carolina; former daughter-in-law, Christy Sharpe and husband Jeff of Hazlehurst; four grandchildren, Gatlin NeeSmith, Harley NeeSmith, Emily Braner, and Dawson Braner; two sisters, Brenda Bryson and husband Terry, and Carolyn Zorn and husband Rhett, all of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The Funeral service will be Tuesday morning, April 30th, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Dannie Williams officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to Ronnie Smith Ministries, 169 Levy Cave Road, Lyons, GA 30436 or to the charity of your choice.
