MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Baseball hosted Middle Georgia for the final SSAC series of the regular season, opening with a single nine-inning contest on Thursday night.
The Barons (18-27, 10-18 SSAC) fell 8-4 to the Knights (23-22, 14-14 SSAC) in Mount Vernon.

After a scoreless first inning, Middle Georgia put a run on the board first with a home run over the left field fence. In the bottom of the third, Jordan Rahn picked up a leadoff double and an RBI single from Jack Morris brought Rahn home to tie the game up 1-1. J. Reid Phillips pinch ran for Morris and advanced to third on a single from Carson Kirby followed by an error. A sacrifice fly from Kyran Coleman got Phillips home to give the Barons a 2-1 lead.
Middle Georgia responded in the fourth inning with a series of three hits and two runs to take a 3-2 lead. The Knights kept the momentum going in the sixth inning with a series of hits and a three-run homer to extend the Barons deficit to 8-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Barons pushed two runs home on three-straight doubles to open the inning with barrels from Coleman, Tate Worrell, and Kennard Dawson cutting the deficit in half.
