Vidalia Fire Chief Brian Sikes reports significant damage has occurred because of severe weather that passed through Thursday afternoon. According to the Chief, roofs have been destroyed in the area, and significant damage has been reported.

"We are asking citizens to please give us time to access the damage and do what we need to do," he said. "We need citizens to remain inside for their safety and the safety of our workers."
