Debra Elaine “Debbie” Angel, age 68 of Vidalia passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 1, 2024 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Pahokee, Florida, she was of Cherokee Indian heritage and one of four children born to the late Willie Paul Mills and Sina Ann Martin Mills.  She grew up in Pahokee and attended Pahokee High School.  She was a licensed hairdresser and worked in FL, NC and CO for approximately forty four years before retiring.  In the mid 1980s she married Pahokee native Kevin Angel.  With her husband’s work, they traveled throughout and lived in much of the northwestern U.S.  They eventually settled in her favorite spot, northwest of Waynesville, NC, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.  In 2007, they came to Vidalia to assist with her mother’s healthcare.

“Debbie” enjoyed needlework; especially making and sharing Afghans, hiking the Appalachian Trail and being out doors.    

She leaves behind, her husband, Kevin Angel, Vidalia, GA, a daughter, Crystal Harnett (Josh), two sisters, Paula Jean McCumber, Thomasville, GA, Sandra Ann Martin, an uncle, Kenny Martin and other loving family members.

Private services will be conducted at a later date and time.
