GREENVILLE, Ala. – The final round of the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship concluded on Wednesday for the Brewton-Parker Men’s Golf program.

The Barons wrapped up the three-day tournament in eighth out of nine teams at RTJ Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Ala. As a team, BPC improved eight strokes to score 306 (+18) in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 941 (+77) which was four strokes ahead of Mobile (Ala.).

How It Happened

Anthony Cecchin shot the low round of the day for the Barons, leading with a 74 (+2). Cecchin opened with a solid first six holes at one-under before giving up a pair of bogeys to close out the front nine one-over. He battled on the back nine with three birdies to help finish one-over for the 74 and a solo finish at 20th in the individual field at +12 for the tournament.

Nicholas Hofmann finished 19th in the individual field at +11 for the three-day event, carding a final round of 75 (+3) on Wednesday. After opening with a three-over front nine, Hofmann improved on the back to even-par giving away just one bogey and scoring a birdie on the 17th hole.

Jesper Larsson recorded a final round of 78 (+6) to finish the tournament 39th individually with a three-round score of +22. A slow five-over start on the front was improved to a one-over finish on the back which included a pair of birdies.

Both James Dugan and Grant Reynolds finished the tournament tied for 49th with scores of +38 after the final round. Dugan penciled a 79 (+7) on Wednesday with three birdies on the card while Reynolds finished the final round with an 85 (+13).

Lastly, Nicholas Browning finished 51st individually at +41 for the tournament after finishing with an 86 (+14) on Wednesday. Earlier in the week, two members of the golf program were honored for their efforts off the course. Cecchin was recognized as part of the Champions of Character Team while both Cecchin and Larsson were honored on the Barnes & Noble All-Academic Team. (Courtesy of BPC)
