4 17 24 Varsity Soccer

It’s 4.6 miles from Robert Toombs to Vidalia Heritage. VHA hosted the lady crusaders for middle school and varsity soccer games Monday, April 15th. This was the first middle school contest the schools had played against each other. The Crusaders would come away victorious with a 2-0 win. Defender and 7th grader Mary Frances Stanley scored from the center circle on a bomb of a shot. Later in the game midfielder and 7th grader Anna Kate Joyner would find the back of the net. Clenching  the win for the crusaders.

The varsity contest was played following the middle school game and was an equally impressive game. Both teams battled back and forth with the ball remaining near midfield for the majority of the first half. However, the crusaders would capitalize on a through ball from Bree Wimberly to sophomore forward Alayna Wimpey whose breakaway led to the teams first goal. Before the half sophomore Madaline Wolfe would gain the crusaders two more goals. The first from a PK and the second from a corner kick. This left the crusaders with a 3-0 lead at half time. VHA came out with determination in the second half and the teams battled back and forth with no goals for most of the half. However, VHA would capitalize on their own PK opportunity with junior Anna Hudson scoring for the lady Eagles. That would be the only goal freshman keeper Maggie Bowers would allow in the game.

The Crusaders finished with a 4-1 win after freshman forward Jayden Butterworth scored off another corner kick from Wolf. The teams will play again at RTCA on Friday, April 19th.
