The Vidalia Police Department had a busy weekend, making more arrests in the March 16 murder of a 23-year-old man and a pregnant 18-year-old woman, both from Soperton.

On Saturday, Vidalia Chief of Police James Jermon announced the arrests of Michael Anthony, Jr., 19, of Lyons, and Fitzroy Anthony Ellis, 18, of Vidalia, who have been charged with the murders of Justin Godfrey and Iesha Wicker, who was expecting a child. Anthony and Ellis have both been charged with two counts of felony murder and five counts of aggravated assault.

On March 20, police arrested Jaquan Quashon Jerome Jordan, Patrick Cornelius Hunt, and Kison Latrell King and charged them with two counts of malice murder and one count of feticide in connection with the case, bringing the total number of arrests thus far in the three deaths to five.

The murders of Godfrey, Wicker and the unborn baby occurred in the vicinity of East Jenkins and Epstein Streets, and this past Saturday night, another murder occurred in that same area.

Around 10:59 p.m. police responding to the 500 block of East Jenkins Street in reference to shots being fired. Before arriving, Toombs E911 advised officers that a victim with a gunshot wound had been transported by private vehicle to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital. Officers responded to the hospital and found that Quashaun Lamrious Chillious, age 28, of Mount Vernon, deceased from his injury.

The Vidalia Police Department has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate this case.
