The GBI is reporting the arrest and charges against a Waynesboro man in the deaths of an Emanuel County man and Jenkins County woman.

Raheem Whitfield has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the deaths of Tyrell Brown and Maxine Jones. Whitfield was taken into custody on Tuesday.

On Sunday morning, Millen Police had responded to the Annie P. Chance Veteran’s Center in Millen in reference to a shooting. Officers found Brown with a gunshot wound, but Jones showed no immediate signs of trauma. However, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police responded to another shooting later Sunday morning that appears to be related to the early morning incident. No one was injured in the second shooting.

The bodies of Brown and Jones were taken to the GBI Crime Lab where a medical examiner will perform autopsies to determine the cause of death of the man and woman.
