3 19 24 Toombs Co Golf

The Toombs County Golf teams were back on the course after a string of rain postponements forced a hiatus from competition. This past weekend, both the men’s and women’s teams traveled to Waynesboro to participate in the Taylormade/Adidas Invitational.

The men’s team put together a solid performance, recording a combined score of 346. Leading the charge was sophomore standout Vick Moore, carding an impressive 83.

The women’s team also displayed their skills, finishing third place with a combined team score of 214. Both Sarah Ellis Walker (So.) and Mahailia Hutcheson (Jr.) turned in scores of 107.

The Toombs County teams returned home on Monday to host Appling County in a 9-hole match. The men’s team continued their winning streak, cruising to a season-low score of 163 against Appling County’s 213. Vick Moore remained a key player, carding a strong 39, and teammate Drew Woodruff followed closely with a score of 40.

Despite a valiant effort, the women’s team fell short to Appling County with a score of 118 to 113. Sarah Ellis Walker and Chanleigh Thursby led the women’s team with a combined score of 59.

The Toombs County Golf teams are already gearing up for their next challenge. They’ll be back in action on Wednesday, competing in the prestigious Bulloch County Championship at the renowned Georgia Southern Golf Course. This tournament features all schools from the Statesboro area, with Toombs County Bulldogs honored to be selected as the sole representative from the surrounding area.
