The Reidsville Fire Department is reporting that multiple fire departments were dispatched to Catherine Sanders Road and Old River Road Saturday afternoon to  assist the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office in locating a small aircraft that had reportedly crashed. After a few hours, the couple in the plane, along with their dog, were found walking out of heavy brush and planted pine trees unscathed by the crash. Family members of the couple say the engine locked up at 4,500 feet, and the pilot maneuvered to avoid crashing in the river and then pulled the parachute.

The man and woman were examined by Tattnall EMS at the scene.

Sunday morning after daylight, the wreckage of the plane was discovered with the help of a drone.
