MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Baseball finished their series with Mobile (Ala.) on Friday Afternoon.
The Barons (14-15, 6-9 SSAC) were dropped by the Rams (8-10, 7-5 SSAC) 11-6.
How It Happened
The Barons started on top in the first inning by taking a quick 3-0 lead. Carson Kirby led off the Barons with a single, while Brandon Lawrence and Tate Worrell loaded the bases with a walk and a hit by pitch. A ground out from Michael Son brought in Kirby and a single from Kennard Dawson as well as a double from Drew DeMasi scored Lawrence and Worrell.
After a scoreless second inning, the Rams brought the game within one with a two-run home run. Mobile tied the game in the fifth inning, with a single and a double to bring in a run. In the top of the sixth inning, the Rams picked up three singles to load the bases and a triple to right center, to help take a 6-3 lead. Mobile extended the lead by loading the bases off two “hit by pitches” and a walk. UM then scored two runs with a pair of singles, making the score 8-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, Son picked up a solo homer to cut the Barons’ deficit to 8-4. The Rams kept the pressure on the Barons in the eighth inning, scoring two more runs off a couple of hits and a sacrifice fly.
With a series of three hits, the Rams increased their lead to 11-4 at the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Worrell hit a solo home run while Dawson scored from his own single and a double from Jacob Mantooth. The effort was not enough as the Barons fell 11-6 in game three of the series.
The Barons will be back in action on Friday, March 22 with a trip to Lawrenceville, Ga. to face No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett at 4:00 p.m. ET. (Courtesy of BPC)
