VHS Splits Two With Jeff Davis

January 4--The VHS Indians split two games with the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets Friday night, in Vidalia.

In the girls game, the Lady Indians fell behind early in a low scoring first period, 8-5. The 2nd period the Lady Jackets pulled away and led 25-13 at the half. The Lady Indians shot the ball poorly from the floor, and Jeff Davis took advantage of the missed shots by Vidalia.

The 3rd period the Lady Indians played hard and fought back to within 8 points by the end of the 3rd period, with Jeff Davis leading 37-29. The Lady Jackets  pulled away in the 4th period, winning 56-39 over the Lady Indians.

Courtney Owens led the Lady Indians with 15 points.

In the boys game the VHS Indians set the tone early, and never looked back, defeating the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets, 76-52.

The Indians led 16-12 at the end of the 1st period, and increased their lead in the 2nd period to go up by 21 points at the half, 40-19.

The Indians continued to dominate the Jackets in the second half to lead 61-39 by the end of the 3rd period, and winning the game by 24 points, 76-52.

Tra Hardy played well and led the Indians in scoring with 23 points.

The Indians go to 12-1 on the season, by winning the first of three important region games on the schedule this week.

Vidalia plays Saturday afternoon at Long Co. with the girls starting at 4:00pm with the boys game to follow.

The Montgomery Co Eagles split a pair of games with ECI Friday night. The girls winning 46-39. The boys losing by 2 points, on a last second shot, 63-61.
