VHS Splits with Dublin at BPC Holiday Classic

December 29--The VHS Indians split a pair of games with the Dublin Fighting Irish on Saturday night, at the 2012 BPC Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament, in Mt Vernon.

The VHS Lady Indians continued their struggles on the court and were over matched and fell behind early, and lost by 30 points, Dublin winning, 78-48.

The VHS Indians Boys played hard, and set the tone early in the game with great defense, by blocking shots, and creating turnovers, and led 20-8 at the end of the 1st period.

The Indians continued playing well in the 2nd period, and led the Fighting Irish 31-16 at halftime.

The start of the 3rd period was much of the same, Vidalia playing great on defense, and increasing the lead to 17 points, 49-32 by the end of the period.

In the 4th, Dublin fought back and cut the Vidalia lead to just 4 points with :56 seconds left in the game, but the Indians hit some critical free throws, and shots down the stretch, and held on to win, 64-55.

Ramel Thompkins led the way in scoring with 18 points, Jordan Black had 12 points, and Raekwon Reed scored 10 points.

The Indians improved to 11-1 on the season.

In other games of local interest, Tattnall Co won a pair of games over Montgomery Co, in the girls game, 72-31, and the boys game, 85-48.
