Indians And Bulldogs Split A Pair In Lyons

December 18--ImageThe VHS Indians and the Toombs Co Bulldogs Basketball Teams split a pair of games Tuesday night in Lyons. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Indians 53-44. Toombs Co jumped out to an early lead, and led 17-10 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Lady Indians shot poorly from the field, and at the free throw line, and the Lady Bulldogs took advantage. Toombs Co led 30-22 at halftime. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Lady Bulldogs opened up to a 45-31 lead, and held on for the big region win.
Diamond Boyd had 17 points, and Devia Howard  scored 15 points, to lead the Lady Bulldogs in scoring. For the Lady Indians, Trinity Ham led the way with 10 points, Courtney Owens had 9, and Chassidy Byrd scored 8 points.
The VHS Indians Boys held on to defeat the Toombs Co Boys 52-48. The Indians led 20-6 at the end of the 1st period, and at one point in the game by 17 points. The Bulldogs fought back and cut the Indians lead to 27-19 at the half. In the 3rd the Indians were able to get the lead to 42-28 by the end of the period.
The Bulldogs outscored the Indians in the 4th, 20-10 to cut the lead to 1 point for Vidalia. The Indians fought hard and got the lead back to 5 points and Deashawn Holloway was able to make 4 big free throws to help the Indians to a 4 point victory.
Holloway had 12 points, Thompkins scored 11 points, and Terry Jones added 10 points to lead the team in scoring.
The Indians go to 8-0 overall, and 4-0 in the region, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-5 overall, and 2-4 in region play.
