December 13-- A granddad from Vidalia has unwrapped a weighty prize from the Georgia Lottery in time for the holidays. Robert Vinson, a grandfather of two, won a $25,000 top prize from the holiday-themed Jingle Bucks instant game.

ImageVinson, 46, claimed his prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Savannah.

Pick N Move, 2208 Center Drive in Vidalia, sold the winning ticket, and Vinson scratched it in the store.

“I said, ‘This can’t be real!’ So I looked at it again,” he recalled. “The guy who owns the store screamed more than I did.”

Vinson, who is married with three adult children, is a gas company dispatcher.

He has no plans at the moment for his windfall.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
