December 13--  A 19-year-old Soperton man has been found guilty of murder.

ImageTreutlen County Sheriff Tommy Corbin reports a jury found Sylvester Davis guilty of killing 25-year-old Marquis Wadley on July 12, 2011 at a house in Soperton.  The verdict was returned late Wednesday in a trial that started Monday at the county courthouse in Soperton. He says Davis shot Wadley twice in the back of his head and stole drugs and money from the dead man.

ImageDavis' half-brother, 25-year-old Jonathan Wright, helped wrap the body in a sheet and place it in the trunk of Wadley's car. The two drove the car to Vidalia and parked it on Orange Street where it was discovered the next morning.

Wright testified against Davis at the trial and Sheriff Corbin says Wright's case will be considered by the court in the future.

Judge Donnie Gillis is expected to sentence Davis Thursday, December 20.  He could get life without parole, according to the Sheriff.
