Frederica Wins GISA Class A Title
Saturday, 01 December 2012

December 1--  It was a different Robert Toombs Christian Academy football team that Frederica Academy faced Friday night in the title game for the GISA Class A football championship.

In their region championship contest, Frederica dominated RTCA 28-0, but found themselves down 30-7 at the start of the fourth quarter in the state title game, and used the final period to put four scores on the board.

Mark Alexander did the play-by-play on Sweet Onion Country 1017 FM and told his audience, "Lightning has struck here folks and it was all Frederica.  We had it 30-7 with eleven minutes to go in this ballgame and now we find ourselves trailing 34-30 with thirty seconds to go," he said.

Crusader Head Coach Thomas Smith said, "Our guys definitely played their butts off.  I give Frederica a lot of credit, but we've got four seniors and I can't say enough about the leadership we've had this season and the adversity these young men triumphed over.  I'm just very proud of them tonight.  Sometimes you don't come out on top on the scoreboard, but as long as you gave everything you had, you can walk off the field and look in the mirror and be alright with it."
