Crusaders Beat Jaguars Will Play For State Title

November 23--The RTCA Crusaders defeated the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars in the GISA Class A semi finals Friday night 14-12, in Louisville. The Crusaders came out and set the tone early, and never trailed in the game.
 
Josh Mimbs scored on a 7 yard run, capping off a 90 yard drive on the Crusader's first posession. Extra point was good.
 
The Crusaders ran the clock and scored again in the first quarter with 18 seconds remaing  on a Rico Rogers 10 yard run.  The point after try was good. !4-0 lead for RTCA.
 
In the 2nd quarter both teams traded turnovers, and with 3:38 left in the half Thomas Jefferson scored on a Justin Haycraft 17 yard run. The try for 2 points was no good. RTCA 14-6 at halftime.
 
Michael Bridges for the Jaguars scored on a 1 yard run with 4:39 left in the 3rd quarter. Try for 2 points was no good. RTCA 14, TJ 12.
 
In the 4th quarter both teams defense played well and held each team out of the end zone. The Crusaders were sucessful on a 4th down fake punt when Rico Rogers with :54 left in the game ran the ball ,and got a Crusaders first down, and then the team ran out the clock for the big win. RTCA 14, Thomas Jefferson 12.
 
The RTCA Crusaders will now play for the GISA Class A state title against Frederica Academy, who defeated Dawson Street Christian. The game will be played in St Simons Friday night. RTCA and Frederica played each other for the region championship two weeks ago, where Frederica beat RTCA 28-0.
