Indians Run Over Patriots

Nov 16---The Vidalia Indian offense rushed for 335 yards and the defense pitched their first shutout of the year holding the Westside Patriots to just 66 total yards as the Indians rolled to a 57-0 win in round one of the GHSA AA State Football play-offs Friday night at the Reservation.

The Indians rushed out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on a Juan Foster 29 yard run with 8:26 to go in the quarter and Rashaad Thompkins raced 46 yards for a score just 3 minutes and 15 second later to take control early.

The Indians would score three more times in the second quarter on a DJ Mincey 15 yard run to make it 21-0. That was followed by a 15 yard touchdown pass from Mincey to Jordan Black with 7:29 to go in the half. Then just one minute and fifty seven seconds later Nic McBride would get his first rushing touchdown of the year on a 49 yard score, to make it 36-0 after a 2 point conversion.

The Indians starters played just 2 plays in the 2nd half as Juan Foster took the opening play of the half and ran 44 yards to the Patriot one, before DJ Mincey finished the drive on a 1-yard QB sneak to make it 43-0.

The Indians 2nd and 3rd stings then took the field for the rest of the game scoring the final two touchdowns on the night, including a 23 yard run by Jacob Collins to make it 50-0 and a Blake Corbett 33 yard fumble return to make it 57-0.

On the night Juan foster finished the night with 139 yards on just 10 carries and Rashaad Thompkins added another 60 yards. DJ Mincey was 1-1 for 12 yards through the air.

Up next for the Indians is the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes, Friday night at the Reservation in Round 2 of the State Play-offs. This will be the 9th game between the two schools and the first since 1999. Fitzgerald leads the series 4-2 with the Indians winning the last two in 1998 & 99.
