VHS Boys Cross Country Compete At State
Sunday, 11 November 2012

November 11- The boys' VHS cross country team performed very well at the state meet in Carrollton on Saturday, November 10.  The Vidalia team was 18th out of the top 32 teams in the state.  From our own region, Benedictine was 9th, Vidalia 18th, Toombs County 19th, and Bryan County 29th

Trace Calloway was 29th out of all AA top contenders with a time of 19:02.  Tyler Campbell finished second for the Indians in 20:38; Michael Campbell was the third Indian to score in 21:13; Greg Johnson was the fourth scorer in 21:17; and Sterling James finished out the scoring in 21:20.  Robert Petty finished right behind James in 21:23 and Will Harn finished in 23:01.

Coach Humphrey reports, "I am so proud of how well the guys ran.  The state course is very difficult with long, steep hills throughout the 3.1 mile course.  These guys were determined to run well and finish well.  Trace was our only runner who had ever actually run the course, so it is even more impressive that they ran that well on such a challenging course in an environment that can be a little overwhelming at the start of the race. I couldn't be more pleased with the results."
