Toombs Co Bulldogs Defeat Atkinson Co

November 9--The Toombs Co Bulldogs defeated the Atkinson Co Rebels 37-6 in Lyons on Friday night. It was Senior Night in "The Pit", and the Bulldogs did what they had to do to keep their playoff hopes alive with some help from some other teams.
The Bulldogs controlled the game early scoring twice in the first quarter on a quarterback sneak by Ben Brantley with 6:35 left in the quarter.The extra point was no good. Mark Terrell scored on a 13 yard run with 3:40 remaining in the 1st. The try for two was good. Toombs Co 14, Atkinson Co 0.
Toombs Co scored two times in the 2nd quarter, first on a 36 yard run by Jamar Smith with 1:41 left in the half.  Extra point was good to give Toombs Co a 21-0 lead. After an Atkinson Co fumble, the Bulldogs recovered the ball and scored on a 15 yard field goal, to give them a 24-0 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs scored on their first time they had the ball on a long runof 63 yards by Jamar Smith with 10:37 in the 3rd quarter. Extra point was blocked. Toombs Co 30, Atkinson Co 0.
Mark Terrell scored on a 47 yard dash with 8:25 left in the quarter. Extra point was good, Toombs Co 37, Atkinson Co 0.
The Rebels scored in the 4th quarter on a long 70 yard run, with the clock running, with 6:45 left in the game. Extra point was no good.
Toombs Co got the kickoff and ran the clock out for the win.
The Bulldogs finish the regular season with a 7-3 record, and will play in a 3 team mini game playoff, in Long Co on Monday night, with Benedictine and Bacon Co.
