Saturday, 03 November 2012

November 2 -- Juan Foster ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns and the Vidalia Indians racked up 406 yards on offense as they rolled over the Toombs County Bulldogs 41-7 Friday night in Vidalia.

ImageWith the win the Indians moved to 9-0 on the year and 8-0 in region play and wrapped up their first Region Championship since 2004. The Indian defense also had a big night on Senior Night as they held the Toombs County Bulldogs scoreless and allowed just 145 total yards. It was the 4th win in a row for the Indians in the series and their 9th win in the last 11 meetings.

The Indians took control of the game in the first quarter scoring on an 11 yard Juan Foster run, a safety on a poor snap by the Bulldogs and a 36 yard field goal by Dakota Paradice to make it 12-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same as the Indians capped off a 9 play 70 yard drive on DJ Mincey’s 1-yard plunge with 5:08 to go in the half and following a successful 2 point attempt the Indians led 20-0. Then just 1:38 later Foster would get his 2nd score of the night on a 4-yard run to make it 27-0 at the half.

In the second half the Indians racked up two more scores including a Tra Hardy 23 yard run and a Jordan Black 45 yard interception return to make it 41-7.  The Bulldog's lone score came on a 53 yard interception return late in the 3rd quarter.

Along with Foster’s yardage, Darius Brown added 59 and Tra Hardy finished the night with 54. DJ Mincey was 8-12 for 84 yards thru the air and added 17 on the ground.

The Indians will wrap up the 2012 regular season Friday night in Hazelhurst as they take on the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets. Kick-off is set for 7:30 and you can hear the game on Your Favorite, 98Q.
