October 26---The Vidalia Indians survived a high powered Bacon County offense in the first half and then shutdown the Red Raiders in the second half and held on to win 14-10 Friday night in Alma.

The Red Raider offense got on the board on the first drive of the night with a 30 yard field goal by T.J. Wiley to make it 3-0. The Indian offense only ran 11 total plays in the first half and punted it back to the Raiders who then turned it over on a fumble just 4 plays later at the Bacon 24.

The Indians took advantage of the opportunity two plays later when Tra Hardy hit Jordan Black on a 21 yard halfback pass to make it 7-3 with just 1:35 left in the first quarter.

Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the quarter and almost six minutes into the 2nd quarter. But all of that changed when Bacon County went on an almost six minute drive to take the lead 10-7 at the half.

The Indians came out of locker room and begin a drive of their own taking the ball from their own 26 yard line to the Bacon 42 before DJ Mincey hooked up with Shaawn Hunter on a 43 yard touchdown pass to give the Indians the lead at 14-10 following the extra point.

The Vidalia defense limited the Bacon offense to just 14 plays in the second half and and the Indians used a time consuming offense of their own to secure the win.

ImageOn the night, the Indians outgained the Red Raiders 206 to 186 and Juan Foster went over 1000 yards for the year with a 93 yard performance to give him 1005 yards on the year.

With the win the Indians move to 8-0 and 7-0 in Region 2AA and face the Toombs County Bulldogs Friday night at the Reservation for Senior Night 2012. Kick-off is set for 7:30 and you can catch all the action on Your Favorite 98Q.
