Vikings Take Bite Out of Bulldogs
Saturday, 27 October 2012

October 26--  Despite being without quarterback Matthew Powell to injury and battling illness all week, the Treutlen Vikings went on the road to Alamo and beat their long time rivals, the Wheeler County Bulldogs by a score of 26 - 7.  It marked the 9th victory in a row for Treutlen in the series.

Wheeler County would get on the board first with 9:59 to go in the first quarter when Josh Chapman would scamper 35 yards for the touchdown.  Following the PAT, the Bulldogs would lead 7 - 0.  The Viking defense would keep the Dogs from sniffing the endzone anymore on the night.  Backup quarterback Brad Cammack would even the score on a 1 yard run with 2:36 left in the first quarter, then kick the PAT to tie the score at 7.  Kyle Rosen would score on a 5 yard reception from QB Kris King and Brad Cammack was again accurate with the PAT with just 43 seconds left in the second quarter to take the halftime lead, 14 - 7.

Jaeron Wise would break a long 67 yard run to set up a Kris King to Keon King 5 yard reception to take the lead with 6:42 left in the third quarter.  The PAT sailed wide left and Treutlen led 20 - 7.  The Vikings would put the final muzzle on the dogs with 8:01 left in the game when Kris King hit Kyle Rosen on a 6 yard slant pass for the touchdown.  The 2 point conversion pass fell incomplete and the Vikings would cruise on to the 26 - 7 victory.

The Vikings take to the road again next Friday night to Gibson, GA to take on the Glascock County Panthers for the first time since 1979.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 and all the play-by-play action can be heard on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 FM or online at www.southeastgeorgiatoday.com
