Missed Opportunities Key in Viking Loss
Friday, 19 October 2012

October 19--  The Treutlen Vikings fell to the Johnson County Trojans on Senior Night at Bobby Driggers Stadium by the score of 22 - 13.  It was a night that the ball just did not bounce the Vikings way as Johnson County fumbled 8 times but managed to recover all 8 of them to preserve the win.

The Trojans would score first on an 11 yard run by Robkevious Norris but the PAT was wide left.  The Vikings answered quickly 2 minutes later as senior running back Keon King went in from 1 yard out.  The PAT was good and the Vikings led 7 - 6.  Johnson County would get a 34 yard field goal from Austin Jones to take the 9 - 7 lead into intermission.

Norris would find the endzone again for the Trojans with 11:55 to go in the 4th quarter but again the PAT was wide left and Johnson County led 15 - 7.  Trojan QB Keemo Burton would extend the lead to 22 - 7 on a 5 yard run with only 2:35 remaining.  The Vikings would not go down easily as they scored on a 4 yard run by junior quarterback Matthew Powell with 1:20 to go to cut the lead to 22 - 13 but the 2 point conversion pass attempt would fall incomplete.  The Vikings tried to get one more crack at it on offense but the onside kick attempt was unsuccessful and Johnson County ran out the clock for the 22 - 13 victory.

Treutlen will take to the road again next week as they travel to Alamo to do battle with their long time rivals, the Wheeler County Bulldogs in another subregion contest.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 and you can catch all the play-by-play action on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 or online at southeastgeorgiatoday.com.
