Lady Indians Sweep #1 Cook!!

Oct. 17-- Wednesday in Adel, the Lady Indians of Vidalia High School fought back from a 4 run deficit in game one and a 3 run deficit in the second game to sweep the Cook County Lady Hornets 5-4 in game one and 5-4 in game two to advance to the GHSA Elite 8.

In game one the Lady Indians had to overcome several fielding and base running errors. They scored 5 unanswered runs and held Cook scoreless in the final two innings to get the win.

In game two the Lady Indians came from behind twice to advance to the 3rd Rd of the State Tournament. The Lady Hornets led 3-0 in the 6th inning and the Lady Indians tied it up at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning, only to see Cook take a 4-3 lead in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Indians used a combination of walks and hits to tie the game and then with the bases loaded and 2 outs the Lady Indians got a single from Bailey Strickland to drive in the winning run.

With the win, the Lady Indians move onto the the Round of Eight which will be played beginning next Thursday in Columbus. The Lady Indians will have to wait to see who their opponent is for game one. Wesleyan and Washington Wilkes split the first two games of their Sweet 16 match-up on Wednesday. The third and deciding game will be played Thursday.
