ECI Sinks Vikings
Friday, 12 October 2012

October 12--  The Treutlen Vikings traveled to Twin City to take on the #5 ranked ECI Bulldogs in their second subregion game of the year and came out on the losing end of a 50 - 6 score.

The Bulldogs took the opening drive and marched 65 yards in 1:15 to take the lead 7 - 0 and would not look back.  The Vikings took their first possession promptly down the field but turned it over on downs at the ECI ten yard line.  That would be the story on the night as the Vikings moved the ball well but were not very successful inside the red zone as they got inside the Bulldog 10 yard line 4 times but did not score.

The lone Viking score on the night was with 27 seconds remaining in the first quarter when QB Matthew Powell hit Kyle Rosen on a crossing route in the endzone.  The PAT attempt would hit the left upright and Treutlen only trailed 14 - 6.  ECI would find the endzone twice again before the half and led 29 - 6 at intermission.  ECI would extend their lead in the second half with scoring runs of 46, 8, and 27 yards to make the final 50 - 6.

The Vikings return home to Bobby Driggers Stadium next Friday to do battle with the Johnson County Trojans.  It is Senior Night and the last scheduled home game for Treutlen this year.  Listen to all the action on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 and online at www.southeastgeorgiatoday.com.
