Vikings Shoot Down Eagles in Homecoming Win
Friday, 05 October 2012

October 5--  Treutlen scored early and often on the way to a 43 - 2 homecoming victory over their rivals the Montgomery County Eagles.  During the halftime festivities, Hunter Dennard was named the 2012 Homecoming Queen.

After the Viking defense forced a 3 and out on Montgomery's first possession, Senior RB Keon King would follow great blocking and sprint to a 48 yard TD run with 9:00 left in the first.  Jaeron Wise would run it the 2 point conversion and the Vikings led 8 - 0.  After a Treutlen fumble was recovered by the Eagles in their own endzone for a safety, Treutlen would lead 8 -2.  Montgomery would not sniff the endzone again.

Treutlen scored 3 times in the second quarter on a 25 yard reception by WR Kris King, a 1 yard run by QB Matthew Powell, and a 4 yard reception by RB Keon King, with the latter coming with just 18 seconds before the half following an Eagle fumble.  The Vikings led at the half, 29 - 2.

To start the second half, Treutlen would not let up, scoring on a 23 yard run by RB Keon King and followed it with a 30 yard weaving run by RB Jaeron Wise to make the score 43 - 2 at the end of three quarters.  Sophomore Brad Cammack would go 5 for 5 on PAT's for the night.  Substitutes played most of the fourth quarter in a defensive struggle and the night would end with the Vikings notching their third win of the year 43 - 2 over Montgomery County.

Next Friday the Vikes take to the road again and travel to Twin City to do battle with the ECI Bulldogs with kickoff set for 7:30.  The play-by-play can be heard on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 FM and online at www.southeastgeorgiatoday.com
