September 26--  The College Board has released its 2012 Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) report.  The average statewide score went up seven points over last year but is still lower than the national average.  The state average is 1,452 and the national average is 1,498.  The highest possible score in 2,400 points.

The highest score among high schools in the area is the private Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons with an average of 1,603 points.

Among public schools, the highest area score belongs to Jeff Davis High School with 1,434 followed by Vidalia High School with an average score of 1,410.  Tattnall comes in third, Montgomery is fourth, Toombs and Treutlen tied for fifth, Wheeler is sixth, Metter seventh, Swainsboro is eighth and Appling Co is ninth.

Five public schools with improved scores from last year are Jeff Davis, Montgomery, Treutlen, Wheeler and Tattnall.  Schools with lower scores than last year are Vidalia, Toombs, Appling, Metter and Swainsboro.
