Rookie Wins Vidalia Championship

September 23--  A rookie on the Symetra LPGA Tour won her first U.S. title Sunday and it's the Vidalia Championship.

Thidapa Suwannapura from Bangkok, Thailand won in a two-hole playoff over South American and two-time Symetra winner Paola Moreno of Cali,Columbia.

ImageBoth golfers were tied at seven-under at the end of regulation play and bogeyed the first playoff hole at Hawk's Point Golf Course in Vidalia.  The young Thai golfer birdied the second playoff hole with a lengthy putt to win the trophy and $16,500 in cash.  She dedicated the win to her father in Thailand whose birthday was yesterday.

The Mount Vernon Bank was the presenting sponsor for the tournament and was represented by Alan Thigpen presenting the winning check to the champion.
