Indians Remain Undefeated!
Monday, 24 September 2012

Sept 24th---The Vidalia Indians used tenacious defense and a time consuming offense for a hard fought 12-7 victory over the Benedictine Cadets Friday night at Buck Cravey Field.

ImageThe Indians got on the board first after Benedictine coughed up the ball on their first offensive play of the night. Following the turnover quarterback DJ Mincey capped off a 20 yard 7 play drive with a 1 yard run on a fourth and goal. The PAT was no good following a high snap and the Indians led 6-0. The Indians scored again on their next possesion, this time it was Trey Hardy on a 4 yard run, capping an 11 play 57 yard drive which ate up five minutes and sixteen seconds off the clock. However the Indians 2 pt try was stopped and the Indians led 12-0. The Indians would only allow the Cadets 16 first half plays on offense consuming over 16 minutes of the half.

The only scoring in the second half came from Benedictine who following a fumble recovery drove it 34 yards to the Indian 2 yard line. That's when Benedictine threw what appeared to be an interception which was returned by Jordan Black to the Cadet 30, but was called back for a defensive holding call, which gave the ball back to the Cadets who scored 3 plays later on a 1 yard run. Following the PAT the Indians led 12-7. But from there the Indians chewed up the final 4 minutes off the clock and secured their 4th win of the year.

With the win the Indians move to 4-0 on the year and 3-0 in Region 2AA and will next face the Metter Tigers Friday night at the Reservation, with kick-off set for 7:30.
