Toombs Co. Bulldogs Shutout Bryan Co.

September 8--The Toombs Co. Bulldogs beat the Bryan Co. Redskins in Pembroke Friday night 19-0. It was the second straight shutout for the Bulldogs who start the season 2-0. The Bulldogs took an early lead when Cody Dowd took a 35 yard interception for a TD on the Redskins first posession of the game. The extra point try was good for a 7-0 lead. Both of the teams defenses held each other in check until the second quarter. The Bulldogs scored with 4:31 left in the 2nd quarter when Jamar Smith on a 4th down play with a 31 yard run with 4:31 left in the first half, extra point try was no good. The Bulldogs led at the half 13-0.
Senior RB Gary Terrell was hurt on a punt return before halftime when he was tackled and hurting his left arm.
In the 3rd quarter both teams had the ball moving it up and down the field, but were unable to score.
In the 4th quarter the Bulldogs scored with 3:30 left in the game on a Jamar Smith 12 yard run on a 4th down play. The 2 point try was no good, making the score 19-0. The Bulldogs defense held the Redskins from scoring near the end of the game to complete the shutout victory 19-0.
This was the first region win for the Bulldogs, who play host next Friday night to Bacon Co. in Lyons.
