Monday, 23 July 2012

July 23--The Toombs Co. Lady Dogs Softball Team coached by Elaine Allen is getting ready for the start of the new season. The team is busy practicing, working in the weight room and playing games.

Coach Allen says, " I have girls coming back with some experience and our goal this year is to finish first in our side of the region with our ultimate goal to be in Columbus at the end of October."

The Lady Dogs will have to improve over last years fourth place finish in their side of the region to accomplish this goal.

Coach Allen stated, " The girls have been working hard this summer, pitchers and catchers are working on hitting their spots, and we went to Brewton Parker College and attended the FCA Softball Camp and had a great time playing games and getting better."

The team will play a scrimmage game August 7th against Wheeler Co.

Coach Allen thinks her team will be competitive this year with Bacon Co., Vidalia, and Jeff Davis all being strong in the region.

Coach Allen said, " I hope that people will come out and support the team this year and I hope to see good things and improve our record and do things that the Lady Dogs Softball team should be doing, giving our best when we hit the field."

The Lady Dogs open up at home August 14th against Bryan Co.
