Golfing for the United Way
Thursday, 24 May 2012

May 24--  Rockey Creek Golf Course in Vidalia was filled Thursday with golfers playing for the United Way of Toombs-Montgomery and Wheeler Counties.

"It's a great day.  Donnie Alderman is the chair of this event and he does a great job with it.  This kind of kicks off our United Way campaign for the Fall and I want to thank everybody who was a hole sponsor, a corporate sponsor or who played to make it such a wonderful day," said United Way Executive Director Patricia Dixon.

ImageThe winning foursome in the scramble shot an overall low score of 20 under par and included (L-R) Rhonda and Dale Sheffield, Chris Seabolt and Tim Winskie.

The winners with a low net score of 46.6 are Bill and Cathy Mitchell, Dennis Donohue and Darren McClellan.

This is the 19th year the tournament has been held and Donnie Alderman has been the tournament chairman for nearly all of those years.

"I just love doing it for the community and for the United Way.  We had a great turnout, people were just everywhere and it's great, especially in these economic times," Alderman noted.
