The Vidalia Invitational got underway just as the weather started to clear on Friday afternoon at Rocky Creek and Hawks Point Golf Club. 34 Teams from all over the state are participating in this year's event.  Honorary starter for the event was long time Vidalia Golf supporter Wade Chesser.

Chesser is Chairman of the Board at Vidalia Savings Bank where he has devoted 65 years and has been very instrumental in it's success. He has been active for the Lions Club, Treasurer of the Vidalia Chamber of Commerece, Elder and Trustee at Vidalia Presbyterian Chuech, a board member for the Vidalia Recreation Department, and a member of the Vidalia American Legion.

Mr. Chesser is an avid outdoorsman and loves to hunt, fish and especially play golf. He played the sport all of his adult life until a few years ago. He and his wife Jean were members of the former Vidalia Country Club wherethey played with other couples. He has had a total of 4 holes in one. Two at Vidalia Country Clubs, one at Maggie Valley and one at Amelia Island Plantation.

He hopes the young players will enjoy their time playing golf for their High School, but, more importantly, to enjoy playing for the rest of their lives.
