Mullins Says Barons need to Work on Defense
Monday, 02 April 2012

There is about 3 weeks left in the regular season for the Brewton Parker Barons baseball team. Their overall record is 23-16, 10-11 in the conference. When asked what his team needs to do most in the final stretch, Coach Boo Mullins said, “we just got to play defense late. We have played well all year. We have played nationally ranked teams. We are nationally ranked. The one thing I feel we need to improve on most is defense late in games when it’s close. One run up, one run down….. sometimes we can do it, sometimes we can’t. We just need to be more consistent with it.”

Mullins also lauded freshman, and former Toombs County Bulldog Patrick Craft. Craft was brought up from the JV last week. The Coach said, “ we brought up him, more than anything, because he’s a great human being. He does everything we ask him to do in our system. Everything in practice. Everything in a game. He’s there early, he stays late. He’s earned to get moved up.” Craft was brought up to play in Tennessee against the number one team in the country, and, got a hit against one of the top pitchers in the country.

The Barons will be at home this weekend against Auburn University of Montgomery in a 3 game series. Game one starts Friday night at 7pm.
