The former Treutlen Viking and Armstrong Atlantic freshman baseball player RJ Dennard was named one of Peach Belt Conference Players of the week. Dennard  hit .714 with 10 hits in 14 at-bats in leading the Pirates to a series win over Georgia Southwestern.  He drove in three in his first four-hit game as a Pirate in Sunday's 14-1 win over the Hurricanes, then bettered that with a 5-for-6 performance in Monday's 17-7 win, the first five-hit game for a Pirate this season.  Then, for the second time in 3 weeks, Dennard was named the Peachbelt Conference Freshman of the Week. Dennard had four multi-hit games for the Armstrong Atlantic Pirates, including all three league games against Montevallo with eight runs scored and 10 RBIs. He went 3-for-4 against Tiffin with three runs scored, then collected two hits in all three games with the Falcons. In the series finale, he doubled and homered to drive in six. He finished with a .682 slugging percentage and drew four walks while striking out only twice in 22 at-bats. Dennard is currently third in the PBC in batting average, fourth in on-base percentage and fifth in RBIs. Dennard says it has not only been a good month for him, but, his whole team is playing well, too. He says the team works hard every day on all facets of the game. RJ says he just wants it to keep going.
