The Dodge County Wrestling Club has selected J.D. Rogers as the fifth recipient of the Coach Parks Athlete Award. Rogers, an exceptional student and a varsity athlete, wrestles for Toombs County High School.

Twice qualifying for the Georgia HS State Championships, J.D. placed at the Area Tournament and the GHSA East Sectional Wrestling Tournament as a freshman and sophomore varsity wrestler. As a youth wrestler, he is a 4-time Kids State Champion and has placed 2nd twice and 3rd twice and 4th twice in Georgia in all 3 styles Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Roman. In 2010, he was a member of the Georgia All Greco Roman Team at Schoolboy National Duals. He has competed for Team Georgia every year since 5th grade.

The award is presented in memory of Coach Rickey Parks who passed away on September 2, 2009. Parks was the assistant high school wrestling coach and coached varsity football, varsity track, and junior varsity basketball at Dodge County HS. His leadership, concern for his players, and persona motivated young athletes for more than 10 years.

This award recognizes outstanding achievers in high school sports.

The award is a specially designed patch from NEFF to be worn on the recipient’s school letter jacket. Each award is uniquely created in the awardees school colors and sport.

Two awards are presented annually; one to a Dodge County High School athlete and one to an athlete in Georgia whose sportsmanship, athletic prowess, and positive attitude inspires others to achieve excellence in sports.
