Cordy and Toni Wilkes hold up the number 14 jerseys retired by the Toombs County Soccer team

It was an emotional gathering for family aqnd friends of Courtney Wilkes on Friday night, as they took time to honor a young woman who affected more people's lives than she knew. Her Mother Toni, was asked what she thought Courtney would think about all the festivities, she said, " she wouldn't like it. She never liked attention. She would probably go somewhere, where she wouldn't have the attention on her. She would be proud, but, she was always one of those that wanted to be in the background." Cordy Wilkes says, " we're just overwhelmed and very thankful for what the community has done and is doing, and hadn't forgot about us."

During the brief ceremony, Courtney's jerseys were presented to the family, which also included brother Cole and sister Callie. Then, bunches of baloons were launched into the air. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Brantley County 9-0, with Courtney's younger sister Callie, scoring a goal in the contest. ThImagee boys were also winners, 8-1.
