Devin Atkins is the WTOC Boys Player of the Week. Last Saturday he ripped the nets for 35 points in a 70-64 victory over Cook in double overtime. Atkins is an 86-percent free throw shooter and hit 16 of 17 from the free throw line against Cook. "Most of my points came from the free throw line," said Atkins. "That's a big part of my get to get to the line. I guess as the game went on my points started adding up at the line. I think I only missed one free throw the whole night so that was a good part of it."

Atkins is the consumate point guard, one who can shoot from anywhere in the gym, but is more than willing to give up the ball when the situation did dictates it. "He's got a scorers ability but a point guard's mentality," said coach Tommy Dalley. "When you shoot 47-percent from the 3-point line and you make as many has he does you know, people have to honor that. He's faced a lot of different defenses this year and box and ones and that's when his teammates have done a good job of finishing plays for him and that's the reason he's the player of the year in our region. He just had a tremendous season."

The other students in the school are really excited about this year's team. "Yeah, they ask me every day who we're playing, whatever, how did we do. The main thing is, we're coming together as a team and to advance would be a big achievement."

The Indians will host Dodge County in a 6:00 game on the Reservation. Hear the game on 98Q.
