Wednesday, 11 January 2012

Brewton Parker Lady Barons basketball started the season with a new Head Coach. Her name is Lephelia Doss.

Doss recently held the position of Assistant Women's Basketball coach at Austin Peay State University helping guide the Lady Govs to consecutive Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championships. She oversaw the program’s recruiting efforts and post-play development, creating one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s most-dominant frontcourts. In three seasons, she developed three All-OVC post players – April Thomas, Nicole Jamen, and Jasmine Rayner.

Doss is no stranger to the SSAC, as she spent the 2007-08 campaign at Southern Polytechnic State University. There she was recruiting coordinator, team academic coordinator, team travel manager in addition to her on-court coaching responsibilities. The Lady Hornets posted an 18-13 overall mark, including a fifth-place 12-8 record in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Prior to her season at SPSU, Doss was an assistant at James Madison during the 2006-07 campaign, which saw the Lady Dukes advance to the NCAA tournament. While at JMU she was involved in the development of the program’s front court, which included 2007 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year Meredith Alexis, who posted career bests in points per game (18.4) and rebounding average (11.6 rpg) that season.

The Lady Barons are currently 8-7 on the year, and 3-3 in the conference.
