The Vidalia Wrestling team traveled to two tournaments over the Christmas Holidays.  The Indians went to Treutlen County to compete in the Viking Christmas Invitational.  The Indians paced twelfth out of sixteen teams despite not having a place winner in the tournament.  Those winning matches for the Indians were Jerry Clark with two pins, Tyler Campbell with three pins, Trayvon Simpson with two wins, Darnell Hendley with one win, Solomon Mcleod with four pins, Dalton Scott with one pin, Jacob Copeland with three wins, Daniel Copeland with three pins, Daniel Wright with one pin, and Kyle Kasper with one pin.  Fondanious Bostic, a first wrestler, competed for the first time this season.  “Even though we didn’t place anyone at this tournament, we did finish higher than some teams that did have placers.  That’s encouraging for a team to build upon,” commented Coach Ferry.

A scaled down version of the Indian squad traveled to Fitzgerald to compete in the Fitzgerald Invitational.  Indians earning wins were Michael Joiner with one win, Darnell Hendley with two wins, Daniel Copeland with two pins, Daniel Wright with two wins, and Kyle Gasper with two pins.  Tyler Campbell and Fondanious Bostic also competed for the Indians.  Solomon Mcleod stood out again for the Vidalia Wrestling team.  He battled back from a fifth place seeding to place second in his weight class.  Solomon has a 24 – 8 record coming out of the first half of the season.
