Coach Willian Hall with new Hall of Fame inductee Shannon Sharpe

This past weekend, Glennville native Shannon Sharpe was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.  One of the people there to share in the honor was one of Sharpe's high school coaches, William Hall. Hall coached both Shannon and brother Sterling at Glennville High School in the early 80s. During that time Hall was, and remains, a big influence on their lives. The Coach would help the brothers get to and from sporting events and back home, even though he lived in Savannah at the time. He would also adise the two young men..advice they took to heart. Hall said that he had always watched the Hall of Fame ceremonies on television, but, being there was great.  In his speech, Sharpe said that even though he was the only one in his family in the Hall, he was the second best player in his family, referring to his brother Sterling. Coach Hall says he feels that Shannon really meant that sentiment. "He has always looked up to his brother." Though retired, Coach Hall is still coaching track these days at Tattnall County High school.
