Yumion Writing Contest

March 24--  To celebrate the Sweet Onion Festival, the Ohoopee Regional Library invites ALL area children in grades K through 8 to write and submit a story or poem about Vidalia, “Yumion”, or the Vidalia Sweet Onion.

Entries are divided into categories: K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade. Entries will be judged on creativity and originality, with awards for first, second, and third prizes, as well as an honorable mention in each category. Winners will be announced during the week of the festival.

Talk to your teacher or stop by your nearest Ohoopee Regional Library branch in Vidalia, Lyons, Mt. Vernon, Hazlehurst, Reidsville, or Glennville for further contest details. All entries must be submitted at the Vidalia-Toombs County Library by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2011 or at any of the Ohoopee Regional Library System branches by closing time that day.
