December 16--  Members of the Vidalia school board are assuming new jobs in the New Year.

Hal Chesser becomes board chairman, the vice-chair is Tim Truxel, Lisa Adams is treasurer, Bruce Asberry assistant treasurer and Virginia Sharp, parliamentarian.

Asberry has completed a two-year term as chairman.

Toombs County Development Authority

B.J. Davis will succeed Pollyann Martin as chairperson of the Toombs County Development Authority in 2011.  Chip Matheson is the incoming vice-chair.

The Authority Board met Thursday and is optimistic an agreement will be signed before the end of the year to co-locate the gourment pet food company U.S. Pet in the Chicken of the Sea building in the Toombs Industrial Park north of Lyons.

Georgia Elections Advisory Council

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp is forming a 16-member advisory council to review the state's election code.  Among those appointed to the council is Swainsboro Mayor Charles Schwabe.

Georgia Land Conservation Program

Seven Georgia landowners are donating land to the state's land conservation program.  Among them is Rick Towns of Alamo who is donating nearly 2,800 acres along Alligator Creek in Wheeler County, home of the endangered Gopher Tortoise and the Eastern Indigo Snake.

Georgia Composite Medical Board

William Sightler of McRae has been named to the Georgia Composite Medical Board.  He's the medical director of the Wheeler Correctional Facility.

Governor's Office for Children and Families Advisory Board

Judith Davis of Dublin is the newest member of the Governor's Office for Children and Families Advisory Board.  She's a member of WINGS, Women in Need of God's Shelter and is retired from the Laurens County Department of Family and Children Services.
