Escapee Captured
Tuesday, 23 November 2010

November 23--  It was not a good day for Christo Johnson of Mount Vernon Monday.

He had his probation revoked at a hearing in Wheeler County, was taken to the Treutlen County jail, escaped, and was captured by authorities in Montgomery County.

Treutlen County Sheriff Tommy Corbin reports, "He went out through the yard fence.  He unraveled the fence somehow and got out through there."

After walking several miles down Highway 221, Sheriff Corbin says Johnson was spotted by deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff's office.  "One of the deputies drove up and saw him sitting under a tree in a yard and then he ran from there," Sheriff Corbin says.

When captured, Montgomery County Sheriff Clarence Sanders says Johnson kicked out the rear window of the deputy's patrol car.

Officers says he's now facing charges of felony escape, obstruction of justice and damage to government property.
