Toombs Co Teacher of the Year
Monday, 15 November 2010

November 15--  Toombs County High School Ag teacher Mark Montfort is the Toombs County School System's teacher of the year.

His selection was announced at the November meeting of the Toombs County school board by administrator Cheryl Metzler.

Montfort says it means a lot.  "I've had times the last few years when you question is this the right thing to be doing?  When I was announced teacher of the year for Toombs County High School, it was a special moment, and now that I've made the system teacher of the year, it just goes to show that maybe this is where God put me," he said after his selection.

"It's been a really good 12 years.  The community has been wonderful to me and my wife.  The kids are great.  We're in a great system and we just need to keep working hard to make these kids successful," he said.

Montfort says he becomes emotional when he looks back at his students and remembers how they were then and what they've accomplished after high school.
