Vidalia Schools Offering On-Demand Info to Parents
Wednesday, 10 November 2010

November 10--  Parents of students in the Vidalia City School System can now get instant feedback on their kids performance via the Internet.

The school system is offering a "Parent's Portal" for on-demand information according to Technology Director Sabrina Wiggs.

"It's anytime, anywhere access to student information including grades, attendance, teacher comments and assignments.  We're moving toward getting parents more involved in the classroom and the school system," she says.

To gain access to the portal, Wiggs says parents just need to stop by their child's school for a password.  "That information will be provided based on guardianship and they will be given information on how to access the portal along with their secure password," she notes.

Some parents are already using the system, not only to check grades, but to check on student attendance.

"There is an attendance piece in there and parents can go in and see if their student is actually in school that day and if there has been any tardiness," Wiggs says.
