Clarendon College Chooses President
Sunday, 07 November 2010

November 6--  The President of Brewton Parker College in Mount Vernon has missed out on the opportunity to return to his native Texas to head a community college.

Clarendon College reports it has hired Dr. Phil Shirley, one of its former Deans and currently President of Southeast Arkansas College in Pine Bluff, as the new president of the two-year school.

Dr. David Smith of Brewton Parker was one of four candidates who interviewed for the job in Clarendon, Texas in late October.  The college Board of Regents announced its selection last week.
